Our Mission

We believe picking your own food is one of the best ways to appreciate where it comes from—and we love sharing that experience with families every summer.

At Martin Blueberries, we grow blueberries sustainably using regenerative farming practices that care for the earth and support healthy ecosystems.

Through a family-friendly u-pick experience, we educate, inspire, and connect people to the land and the food it provides.

History of Martin Blueberries

Martin Blueberries was founded on a legacy of community, heritage, and healthy food.

The farm was founded by Dale and Mary Martin in the late ’60s and was opened to the public in 1970 once the plants were ready to start harvesting. As a Columbia Station summer landmark, many local families have close ties, connections, and memories on the farm of blueberry picking—or even working for the Martins!

Martin Blueberries Fun Facts

We have 12 varieties of high bush blueberries on the property.
We have some of the only remaining adult American chestnut trees—a critically endangered species after a blight nearly extinguished the entire population.
Our chickens tend to free-range quite a bit. Some of them might even follow you to wait for stray berries to roll by!
We’re within 45 minutes of most suburbs in the Cleveland/Akron corridor: 15 minutes from Strongsville, 30 minutes from Medina, 40 minutes from Cleveland, and 50 minutes from Akron.

Our Farming Philosophy

At Martin Blueberries, we grow with care for both people and the planet. Using permaculture-inspired practices, we focus on healthy soil, conserving water, and biodiversity to create a resilient farm ecosystem. We rely on natural processes and thoughtful management to reduce chemical use and support native pollinators and wildlife.

Our goal is to share not only sustainably grown berries but also a deeper understanding of how farming can work in harmony with nature.

From Our Visitors

I’d never been blueberry picking before. We happened to go by while they were open. It was fun and the berries were DELICIOUS!

I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Very family friendly. We all had a blast. I was kind of a mess after having a rough morning, and staff went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything that we needed during the experience. It’s far more than a money-making operation as many places are these days.

Amazing blueberries, and a great experience for the little ones if they need to get outside! Delicious!
